OFFICE MANAGER

Samantha joined Smith Ammons in November of 2020. As our office manager she brings twenty years of legal and administrative experience. She is dedicated to helping the office operate smoothly and efficiently. Samantha is responsible for creating policies and procedures, managing and supporting staff, as well as, maintaining accounts payable, receivables and monthly billing. Samantha was raised here in Florence, where she is currently raising her own family.

Jessie Nicrone

PARALEGAL

Jessie joined Smith Ammons in May of 2019 and is the Family Law Paralegal to David M. Smith. She is responsible for monitoring all litigation deadlines and court dockets, attorney scheduling and assisting the attorney in preparing for hearings and trials. She is a graduate of Florence Darlington Technical College. She has over 10 years of legal experience. She is married with two wonderful children and two awesome dogs. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, going to the mountains/beach, watching football and being with her friends.

Melissa H. Phillips

PARALEGAL

Melissa came to work at Smith Ammons Law Firm in April 2019. She brings 30 years of legal experience in personal injury, family law, probate law, workers’ compensation, and medical malpractice. She primarily works with clients who have experienced personal injuries such as automobile accidents, workers’compensation, and slip and falls, but she also assists with other types of civil litigation. She is the paralegal to Joshua T. Howle. She assists with gathering your medical bills and records throughout the course of your medical treatment, preparing your medical settlement package and in keeping you abreast of the developments of your case throughout your representation. When filing a lawsuit is necessary, she assists in drafting the appropriate litigation documents, handles the scheduling and assists in trial preparation. At the conclusion of your case, it is her desire that you walk out the door with a smile on your face and if you are ever in need of future legal advice, there is no question which firm you will choose. While not working, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Heather Sharkey

PARALEGAL, SUMMERVILLE OFFICE

Heather joined the Firm in August of 2021 with Attorney Brice Ricker whom she has worked with since 2018. She is a member of the National Paralegal Association and brings over 10 years of experience to the firm; she is responsible for the day-to-day operations of our new Summerville office. Born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, Heather graduated from Charleston Southern, magna cum laude, with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science; she also holds an associate degree in Applied Science in Paralegal Studies accredited by the American Bar Association; earning a 4.0 in all courses. As a paralegal, she helps clients navigate the legal, medical, and financial challenges that accompany devastating injuries. She is involved in cases from start to finish, and assists with record retrieval, processing, drafting and responding to discovery requests, and preparing for depositions, mediations and trials. She has dedicated herself to listening to clients' needs and frustrations and supports the attorney to help come up with the best possible solution. She is passionate about her work and very much enjoys helping clients overcome any obstacles preventing clients from obtaining a just recovery. She considers it a pleasure to work with and help clients get back on their feet after being injured.
In her spare time (when CLEMSON is not playing), she enjoys spending time with her husband, Peter and catering to their very active three boys, Aiden, Connor and Declan, who are involved in baseball and soccer year-round, as well as their two fur babies Hulk and Lagertha.

Rachel Mayo

LEGAL ASSISTANT

Rachel joined the Smith Ammons family in 2021. After being our receptionist she shifted into the role of Mr. Gregory Ammons Legal Assistant, focusing her time on Criminal, Family and Civil law. Her favorite part of being a legal assistant is meeting people and helping criminal clients redeem themselves from their past. A former student of Florence Darlington Technical College, she spent 8 years in the medical field prior to joining the team. In her free time Rachel enjoys spending time with her family and doing anything outdoors.
