Marsh A. Julian
Associate Attorney
Born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, Marsh Julian is a transplant to Florence and the Pee Dee region. After high school, Marsh had a prosperous career in various construction areas, including heavy equipment operation and truck driving. While still in Columbia, Marsh met his wife, Carla, while she was completing her pharmacy doctorate at the University of South Carolina. Prior to marriage, Marsh and Carla moved to Carla’s hometown of Bennettsville, South Carolina, where Marsh began work as a plumbing and electrical contractor for a local company. After marriage, Marsh and Carla made Bennettsville their home for four years, and during this time, Marsh decided to return to the world of academia. Marsh enrolled in Francis Marion University in 2010 and graduated cum laude in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science.
While at Francis Marion University, Marsh soon found his path leading him towards the law. Marsh applied for admission to the University of South Carolina School of Law. In preparation for law school, Marsh and Carla moved back to Columbia, South Carolina. Marsh matriculated directly from Francis Marion to the University of South Carolina School of Law and graduated with his Juris Doctor in 2016. While still in law school, Marsh began clerking for a local boutique firm that specialized in homeowners’ association representation. After being licensed to practice law in South Carolina, Marsh continued his work representing HOAs and handling various property law issues.
However, Marsh and Carla decided to make the Pee Dee their home in 2017, when they made the permanent move to Florence, South Carolina. At that time, Marsh was still commuting to Columbia, and he knew it was time to put down some professional roots closer to home. Marsh accepted a position with the City of Florence as the City Prosecutor in August 2017. While at the City of Florence, Marsh handled hundreds of traffic and criminal cases for the City. Marsh prosecuted many cases before judges and juries all while learning invaluable experience and knowledge of the legal system and criminal justice system. Marsh’s time with the City was truly rewarding and caused him to meet some of the best people he knows, especially the outstanding officers of the Florence Police Department. However, Marsh knew that he could offer more to the legal practice, so in July 2019, Marsh officially left government practice for Smith Ammons, LLC. Since joining Smith Ammons, Marsh has focused his practice on family law, personal injury, and criminal defense.
While Marsh’s love of the law runs deep, his whole heart is with his amazing family. Marsh and Carla have three wonderful children: Redding, Grace Livingston, and his daughter [sic], Sullivan. Marsh and his family are members of Calvary Baptist Church in Florence. Marsh and Carla are avid Gamecock fans (even when it seems hopeless). Marsh enjoys traveling with his family, cooking, all things outdoors, hunting, fishing, canoeing, and shooting sports. .
